OUR CURRICULUM

Winterhawks ICE Centers are proud to be members of Learn to Skate USA and the Ice Sports Industry (ISI).

Our curriculum, designed especially for Winterhawks ICE, provides a progressive hybridization of the group lesson programs offered by our nation's two industry leaders. By blending the curriculums together, we are excited to revolutionize the way we teach skating and use strengths of each program to create a dynamic and effective learning journey for skaters of all ages and abilities in a fun, safe, and stress-free environment.

OUR COURSE SEQUENCE

Skaters are sorted into one of three series based on their age at the time of enrollment:

  • Mini Hawks Series - For skaters between the ages of 3-5 years old.

  • ICE Hawks Series - For skaters between the ages of 6-14 years old.

  • Adult Hawks Series - For skaters ages 15 and older.

In each series, beginning-level skaters learn basic safety and balance with their instructor off-ice. Once on the ice, they spend the remainder of the block learning the foundations of ice skating.

Upon completion of the first level, skaters can begin advancing through progressively more challenging levels in the series, as outlined in our skating roadmap.

After completing the ICE Hawks or Adult Hawks series, skaters are eligible to begin participating in freestyle classes and join our ICE Stars program!

Looking to learn how to play hockey?

Skaters who wish to enroll in our Youth or Adult Hockey classes must have passed ICE Hawks 3 or Adult Intermediate.
